Freedom in Xylor was bought at a great price. Through muscle, sweat, and the shedding of blood was liberty gained for a forlorn people. Precious blood shed by the finest society had to offer. And yet the times were full of evil; a time when danger lurked behind every corner and every shadow held death. Dark days lay ahead of that first victory; days that tried the souls of men. Most others would have abandoned us in our desolate state: but not the four strangers from Ravenshire. They were faithful and loyal when others had failed.

I've often thought about that in the years since the Clandestine Knights first appeared. It has been said "for days such as these are heroes born." I regard that as true. For it was in our darkest hour that the four blazed brightest. Obedient to their calling, they and their friends restored peace to a corrupted land. Maintaining that peace would require further sacrifice; a burden four strangers were willing to bear. And history didn't care.

There are still those who would say a true Knight is born of nobility and is well educated in social graces. I have to disagree. Knights are forged by fiery trails. They are ordinary people who respond courageously to extraordinary circumstances. They stand against tremendous opposition to do what is right. How can you ever thank them?

All I can do is to tell their story...

... and precious shall their blood be in His sight
Psalm 72:14
